img_4354.jpgFor FIVE years I didn’t manage to spend a weekend in Bavaria with Hubert & Co. (friends since, uhm, a long time), when all of a sudden an opportunity arose: Hubert’s trip to the Baltic…

While Helsinki and Tallinn didn’t work out logistically, both our itinerary overlapped in St Petersburg, and it just so happened that this very day a crew shuttle was scheduled to run all day. It’s our only legal option of leaving the port. We have arranged to meet at 12 noon at the Bronze Horseman statue near the Isaac-Church. A weird thought to meet up after what feels like ages – and in addition to that in a different country!

Well, Hubert had been to St Petersburg for a few days already, myself as well, but none of us had ever done a boat trip along the canals – so that’s what we wanted to do today. Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy to find an English tour. One had just left (20 seconds kept us from making it onto the boat), and another one was scheduled for the late afternoon. Well, let’s just walk around for a bit and see parts of the city we hadn’t seen yet. Later on, we returned to Nevsky Prospect to begin the canal tour. I must say, it’s a very interesting route through St Petersburg and you get a lot in front of your lens :-) Enjoy the photos!
